The Many Faces of The One and Only- Ranveer Singh

Social Poems

Presenting a fan poem celebrating actor Ranveer Singh’s career, personality and versatility across the best roles he has played! A special gift for the Actor’s birthday from his fans!

Bittoo bargained hard on every wedding lawn,
Hustling from nothing, ambition his only pawn.
Kabir cruised the sea but quite lost within,
Rich on the outside, hollow, searching for kin.

Jayesh shrank before the crowd but not before his own,
Timid on the surface- quiet courage, differently shown
Then Dhurandhar arrived, all fury and iron nerve
No two men alike, yet each given what they deserve.

Lootera’s Varun charmed his way in, then couldn’t find his way out,
Love undid the con, that’s what sacrifice is all about.
Khilji raged – dark, hungry, unhinged, untamed
Murad rose from rubble- same fire, differently named.

Ram loved fiercely- bullets, borders, none could deter,
On screen as in life, his world begins and ends with her.
Dono ki jodi toh hai hi filmon mein immortal,
Par asli ishq woh jo cameras ke baad bhi ho normal.

Kapil Dev’s six, landing on that Lord’s turf high,
He didn’t just play – he became, under that same sky.
From Peshwa’s battlefield to Dharavi’s dust and grime
Every role fully inhabited, every single time.

Off camera too- outfits that courts would question,
Every red carpet, it’s own bold artistic expression.
He makes the world double-take and eventually agree,
That conviction alone turns spectacle into mastery.

Happy birthday to the actor, Ranveer, who never plays it safe,
Who leaps before the net appears, without chafe.
Dua hai ki your range keeps widening, craft keeps deepening still
As Bollywood ko atleast ek chahiye, with such an amazing will.

One Sun- Many Songs

Festival poems, Social Poems

A poem on Makar Sankranti– its significance and the diverse way of celebration across the many states of India

When the sun shifts north, Uttarayan begins its reign,
Capricorn receives the light, winter loosens its chain.
Sesame and jaggery speak of warmth, of bond and yield,
Harvest ripe and skies flung open, the earth's joy revealed.

In Tamil Nadu the clay pots bubble over with pride
Kolam bright at the threshold, Suryan adored far and wide.
Pongal pongala! the cry lifts sweet and bold
Jallikattu in the dust- raw courage, ancient and old.

In Punjab the bonfire roars under a January sky,
Reori and popcorn tossed in flames as sparks leap high.
Sundar Mundariye ho! echoes through the mustard field,
Dhol beats to feet that stomp the cold, refusing to yield.

In Gujarat the heavens bloom with a thousand hues,
Every rooftop a battlefield of maanja, taunts and cues.
Kai po che! when a rival kite spins helpless and free,
The chikki dissolves on the tongue- joyous rivalry.

In Assam the meji burns bright by the river's curve,
Bhogali feasts laid on banana leaf with generous nerve.
Til pitha, narikol laru — all neighbours fed with ease.
In community and laughter, the Bihu spirit lives.

By the Mahanadi shore the Makar Mela draws the throng,
Tribal hearts and temple bells together hold the song.
Far north in Kashmir, Shishur Saenkraat marks the shift,
Each tongue, each ritual — a unique and equal gift.

One celestial turn, yet every land has its own hymn,
One festival wears many faces, never growing dim.
Every hearth its distinct flame, each tongue its own cheer,
Sankranti reminds us- what makes us one is clear.

India’s New Year

Festival poems, Socio-cultural Poems

Different states of India celebrate their New Year in different ways. In general, spring time ushers in the New Year but there are variations and nuances based on the type and importance to calendars- solar, lunar and business cycle.

Spring awakens, blossoms rise,
The year begins with cheer.
Nature’s dawn beneath the skies,
India greets New Year.

Puthandu shines in Tamil land,
With mango, neem, and sweet.
Vishu glows with mirror grand,
Fruits and flowers meet.

Poila Boisakh in Bengal sings,
Ganesh and Lakshmi bless.
Baisakhi crowns Punjab with springs,
Harvest brings success.

Bohag Bihu in Assam sways,
Fields of grain rejoice.
Maha Bishuba Sankranti days,
Odisha lifts its voice.

Ugadi dawns in Andhra bright,
Life’s flavors all entwine.
Karnataka joins the lunar rite,
Moonlit paths align.

Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra flies,
A banner proud and high.
Pratipada marks the lunar skies,
Tradition will not die.

Navreh calls in Kashmir’s vale,
Durga’s nine‑day prayer.
Sacred hymns and holy tale,
Renewal everywhere.

Bestu Varas in Gujarat waits,
The day after Diwali’s flame.
Ledgers open, trade creates,
Govardhan lifts the name.

Solar, lunar, mercantile streams,
India’s dawns appear.
One land, many festive dreams,
Each springtime brings New Year.

Poem summarizing Ramayana

Indian Scriptures Summarized As Poems, Socio-cultural Poems

The seven books (Kāṇḍas) of the Valmiki Ramayana in their traditional Indian/Sanskrit names are:

  1. Bāla Kāṇḍa (बालकाण्ड) – The Book of Childhood
  2. Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa (अयोध्याकाण्ड) – The Book of Ayodhya
  3. Araṇya Kāṇḍa (अरण्यकाण्ड) – The Book of the Forest
  4. Kiṣkindhā Kāṇḍa (किष्किन्धाकाण्ड) – The Book of Kishkindha
  5. Sundara Kāṇḍa (सुन्दरकाण्ड) – The Beautiful Book (Hanuman’s journey to Lanka)
  6. Yuddha Kāṇḍa (युद्धकाण्ड), also called Laṅkā Kāṇḍa (लंका काण्ड) – The Book of War
  7. Uttara Kāṇḍa (उत्तरकाण्ड) – The Last Book (Sita’s exile, Luv and Kush, Rama’s departure)

Presenting a poem below summarizing the eternal story of Ramayana

In Ayodhya’s halls they rose,
Four heirs of sacred line,
Dasharatha’s joy through sons he chose,
Their destinies divine.

With teachers wise they trained,
Their temper calm yet strong,
Their youthful deeds by dharma gained,
Bright virtues moved along.

The bow was bent with might,
A fierce contest was done,
A radiant bride in sacred rite,
Two souls now together-one.

Kaikeyi’s voice was stern,
The crown was cast aside,
Exile embraced, no thought to spurn,
He walked with noble pride.

Across the wild they pressed,
With Lakshman by his side,
They guarded hermits, foes addressed,
Dark forces quelled with stride.

A shining lure appeared,
Its shimmer- false, deceived,
Ravana struck, Sita was steered,
Her sorrow, deeply conceived.

Sugriva gained his seat,
With Rama’s aid secured,
Hanuman with a spirited fleet,
Their friendship firm assured

Across the sea he flew,
Swift envoy strong and brave,
He found her with spirit true,
Her courage none could waive.

The armies clashed with roar,
The banners pierced the sky,
The demons fell, their reign no more,
The righteous stood nearby.

With arrows fierce he fell,
The tyrant’s reign was gone,
The world rejoiced, the chants would tell,
That dharma’s light had shone.

Through fire she walked serene,
Her purity displayed,
Her truth was shown, her vows enhanced,
Her honor unbetrayed.

The chariot blazed with gold,
Ayodhya sang with glee,
Exile was past, the tale retold,
The crown returned with a plea.

Justice prevailed with care,
The kingdom thrived in bloom,
Harmony spread through lands so fair,
Abundance filled each room

The crown was placed,
The waters blessed his fame,
His legacy through ages traced,
Eternal stood his claim.

Valmiki shaped their voice,
Twin heirs of noble flame,
Luv‑Kush sang to Ram, the people’s choice,
And spread his righteous name.

Jyotirmay Shivaratri Wishes as a Poem!

Festival poems, Socio-cultural Poems

This poem describes Shiva, the significance of Shivaratri and how the 12 jyotirlingas in India, each have a story.

O Lord of ash, of boundless night,
Liberator of bonds, awakener of sight.
Celestial dancer beyond ages untold,
Source from whom all souls unfold.

On Shivaratri’s vigilant, sacred span,
Minds turn inward beyond mortal plan.
Shiva with Shakti in oneness sublime,
Dual currents balanced beyond time.

Rudra roars yet heals all pain,
Adi Yogi breaks the mind's chain.
Yet as Grihastha, calm and wise,
Guards love beneath family skies.

Once revealed- twelve pillars aglow,
Jyotirlingas where cosmic energies flow.
Not merely sites the wandering eyes see,
But pathways guiding hearts to liberty.

In Madhya land where legends dwell,
Mahakaal rose when Dushan fell.
Time itself feared his fierce gaze,
Cosmic justice worked through evil haze.

Omkareshwar by Narmada’s song,
Where Mandhata’s faith stayed strong.
Adi Shankaracharya declaring the truth,
Advaita Vedantha - eternal, ageless proof.

By Gujarat’s shores where sea winds move,
Nageshwar answered - He came to prove.
When Supriya called in shadowed hour,
Serpent-formed, arrived the saving power.

Somnath stood through attack and flame,
Yet rose, restored in Shiva’s name.
Moon once prayed to escape decline,
Here regained its celestial shine.

In Maharashtra’s rivers and hills,
Trimbak blessed current fills.
Godavari springs, Gautam prayed,
Three-eyed vision, illusion swayed.

Bhimashankar through forests deep,
Where Bhima River began its sweep.
Grishneshwar heard a mother’s cry,
Ghushma’s faith brought son nearby.

Northern heights where icy winds sigh,
Kedarnath stands where mysteries lie.
Close to Kailash where great sages stayed,
In boar form, holy truth was displayed.

Kashi glows by Ganga’s stream,
Where Parvati shared Shiva’s dream.
Liberation’s city, final release,
Where souls depart in sacred peace.

Vaidyanath heard Raavan’s call,
Blessings given yet humbled fall.
Ganesha’s wisdom shaped fate’s thread,
Teaching pride must bow its head.

In southern shrines devotion swells,
Mallikarjuna, the union tells.
Shiva-Parvati in Srisailam, never apart,
Two rhythms beating one cosmic heart.

Rameshwar saw Lord Rama kneel,
After the war, in humble zeal.
Victory offered, Sita back, Raavan gone,
Faith carried through ages on.

Cricket match review as a poem!

Social Poems, Socio-cultural Poems

Probably even more artistic and crisp than watching highlights!

India chose to field first, hoping to make it 8-0s
We blocked all greens & waited for our heroes
Gill ji returned to squad, Modi stadium packed
Pak started well, that's when Hardik & Siraj whacked
Babar & Rizwan built momentum and partnership
Kuldeep, Bumrah and Jaddu, two each fellowship
Pak lower order tumbled, total was mere 191
Out on 16 were both our Virat and Shubhman
Rohit's knock was a captains knock, all sensible
Young guns, Shreyas & KL finished it off, responsible
Hype is Ind Pak cricket and jab wagah border khule

Poems on Corona Pandemic

Social Poems, Socio-cultural Poems

A warrior in each one of us- A poem about how every sector of the society-doctors, helpers, students, homemakers, artists, businessmen, working professionals etc. battled against the corona pandemic

Frontline, they termed you, you went way beyond
Victim and hero, gasping, yet you carried on
Bizarre, it was to you, this way of life and death
God, to each one of us, you gave back breath

Your survival instinct, possessed for long, was tested again
Your selflessness and courage helped relieve others pain
You owned nothing yet could give so much
How will we be able to value you and be just?

Refrained from studying and playing with others together
Cancelled exams, online classes, masked altogether
Yet you maturely understood and learnt to adapt
Will it be possible to undo these months back?

You lost track of the days passing by at home
Drowned in the monotony of everyday chores that bummed
Yet you continued serving and supporting on repeat mode
As family is the foremost institution and home-the safest abode

The stands and the halls were gloomy and deserted
Your art provided some respite to the minds- wounded
You missed the crowd’s appreciation more than the renumeration
Yet you continued to heal with your celebration

You were brave to change your offerings and models
You liquidated your assets and simplified your channels
You reminded us that the things that cannot be accounted count
You persisted with your faith that the markets will soon rebounce

You were at your home during a crisis trying to do your job
Changing plans, reduced budgets, work life (im)balance and what not
You missed the liberating drive to work and face to face conversation
Grateful that you could pay your bills but searching for purpose, health and satisfaction

Distanced from your loved ones by few or more meters, kilometres or light years
Caretakers for someone, counselling to remove fears
Organising centers, supplies, fundraising and food
Setting up helplines, improving immunity and lifting the mood

There is light at the end of this tunnel for sure
We will learn to celebrate normalcy and kindness above all
Changes in mindset, lifestyle and priorities, certainly less fuss
The battle is far from over but there is a warrior in each of us

A Hindi poem asking the public to hang in there during the pandemic!

Gratitude poem for a yoga studio

Social Poems, Socio-cultural Poems

A small thank you poem for a yoga studio after a 3 month course! Delightfully Hinglish!

<Studio Name> Yoga, a clean and calm place, so worthy
Gurus pushing our boundaries but with lot of empathy
Each day is fresh, something different to learn
Posture, aasana, prop, practice or a new turn

Hindi aur English, a sprinkle of cheer,
Among yoga buddies, we draw near,
Saath mein we learn, bend and mend,
In this yogic yaatra, we truly blend.

<Name1> sir and <Name2>Ma’am, Dhanyawaad and Aabhar
Grateful that we are breathing, yoga is a way of Omkaar
Flexibility and strength in each part of body
Maansik and Shaaririk, both, be fit and happy!

Dream Education System

Social Poems, Socio-cultural Poems
Where individual talents are fostered
Where societal balance is considered
Where specialty is not generalized
Where connection with Nature is emphasized

Where we are proud of our own culture
Where the medium of language does not matter
Where we only learn how to learn and update
Where we don’t show off the bookish grade

Where we are flexible to the needs of our family
Where conflicts are considered to be quite healthy
Where we are bold to question the status quo
Lead some, support some initiatives and grow

Where the soft and the loud are equally outreached
Where inclusivity is practiced, not just preached
Where the competition is only with the self
Where values are more than anything else

Where inward looking activities are curricular
Where spirituality and religion are articular
Where constraints propel innovation
Hybrid of home schooling and conventional education?

Poem on Motherhood

Social Poems, Socio-cultural Poems
No woman is really prepared or can be prepped to be a mother
She embraces, figures out without a manual, the life transformer
Motherhood evolves, just like newborns do with each generation
The stretch, the sleeplessness, the care remain pretty constant

How much does it take to wake up everyday and smile, run in mode normalcy
How much can one think of meaningful ways to nurture kind humans for a better galaxy
How much can one slow down, be present and not aim for perfection
How much can one connect, take a day at a time and balance exposure and protection

She misses a lot of her earlier self- physically, mentally and emotionally
She hangs onto her dreams but on approaches and timelines, now flexibly
A lot depends on her ability to lessen her guilt and stress amidst temporary storms
Understanding that the good, the sweet, the bad, the bitter, all are just phases in waveforms

They say it takes a village to raise(nurture?) a child..
Sometimes she needs to be the village
Sometimes she needs some luck to be in the village
Sometimes she wishes the village understood her better
Sometimes she wants to but misses to thank the village
Nevertheless it does take a VILLAGE for the CHILD and the MOTHER to keep well

Motherhood is a journey(not a milestone)…
That teaches her what love and life is
That humbles her on her control of things
That makes her relive your own childhood
That overwhelms her with pure innocence
That reveals about the kid and adult in herself
That reminds her of what truly matters
That refrains her from judging others
That synthesizes her as stronger and wiser
